Last Minute Thanksgiving Recipes
(audience cheering)
Thanksgiving is tomorrow.
So here with some last minute recipe ideas
is our old friend chef Nikki Dinki.
Hi.Welcome back.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Congratulations on the twins.
Thank you, since I was last here, yep.
They're only four months.
So they're four months,
they were born a little early.
So we've had them home for two months,
and they're doing great.
PerfectYeah
What're we making?
Okay so we don't all have time
for things like a giant turkey,
so were doing some easy kinda hacks here.
Is this real?
This is real.
It looks beautiful.
(Nikki laughs)
I mean, you know, we might have glossed it up
a little for the show but
Yeah.
So this is our turkey chorizo sweet potato hash,
cauliflower mash,
and then these are stuffed brussels sprouts.
What're they stuffed with?
Shall we? With sausage stuffing.
Okay
Alright so lets get started.
Over here as you can hear I have got the chorizo,
don't worry, I'll turn it off for ya.
We've got the chorizo and the turkey,
we want to get it really brown, its all about
that brown flavor.
The hot sauce is freezing
You know what, you can
It's too cold?
Well I mean hot sauce can be good at any temperature,
right? No?
Let's get to the cheesy part.
Okay so listen, I'm putting in some sweet potato
and some onions and garlic.
Once this gets really nice and brown
it looks like this guy,
which is starting to feel very Thanksgiving.
This looks really good.
And then we're putting in
some really fun ad-ons, some parm,
some cranberries.
Can you smell that chorizo?
It just adds something to the turkey.
And then some rosemary, and as you can see
its kinda just like Thanksgiving
in one big pot.
What's this?This is yours.
So this is the hash,
it's got all that stuff in there.
We just cooked it for one more minute,
and then you can top it
with some brussels sprouts or apples if you like.
Okay so there's no sausage in here?
There might be a little bit of the chorizo.
We can always move on.
Alright let's go on,
I got two things I know for sure you're gonna love.
Yeah?
Cause what they did for my plate
is they gave me a name tag.
(Nikki laughs)
So I know exactly what I'm eating.
Good.
You know what if it's your show
you should definitely get a name tag.
So let me show you this mash,
cause I love this, cause you know we all
so often think about mashed potato,
come Thanksgiving.
But there are easier ways to do things
and for me I love to always y'know add
an extra veggie to the table
and this one is so quick and simple.
So this is just steamed up cauliflower,
some garlic, I'm gonna add in some cream cheese
to give it a little bit of fattiness,
a little creaminess, I'm gonna add in some parm
and that is it.
You pulse this guy up with a little bit
of salt and pepper.
Oh my gosh.
And it is one of the favorite things
I always have on my Thanksgiving table.
And it is so, so easy.
And this one's mineAnd I'll hold your sign.
That one's yours.
And you can see how creamy it gets
in just a couple seconds.
Yummy.
You can fold in some chives if you want.
Wendy's.
(audience cheering)
I'm gonna put your sign right here,
you can have all the rest of it.
Thank you.
(laughs) You're welcome.
This is very good.
It's so creamy and delicious,
and I mean mashed potatoes are great
but I love when you do kinda some fun things
with some veggies that maybe
you don't always have on your table.
Now what's this jump off again?
So this is (laughs)
the stuffed brussels sprouts,
and they're so fun and easy to do.
All you're doing is doing a little cut
at the base of your brussels sprout
and then it pops out like this.
Okay
And then you can stuff it with maybe
the sausage stuffing that you already have
on your Thanksgiving table
or anything that you like.
And it's this beautiful little cup.
What a presentation.
And then you brown them up.
It's so nice, you know maybe
if you're cooking for a couple,
if you're looking for an appetizer.
It's something that you can do with ingredients
that you probably already have.
Mhmm
(Nikki laughs)
So this is the kind of things
that I'm actually doing with my new project.
And you know my friend Chef Damaris Phillips
who's cooked for you before.
So we actually started recently,
a lifestyle brand inside Bluebird and Blackberries.
You eat I'll talk.
And it's really about all these kind of hacks.
With taking things you know from the food world,
the fashion world, the d.i.y, and doing them
just a little better, cheaper, stronger, faster,
and a little more thoughtful.
(audience applause)
So things like this, we're always about,
kind of you know giving you the right ideas.
And being very real, there's too much stuff out there
that's too fancy and everything looks great.
We wanna make sure that you guys
can actually do this kinda thing.
Well that's what I'm saying.
Yeah
Everything's great.
Thank you so much Nikki Dinki
for coming back to our show.
Of course.
